In Zoo Tycoon you own a zoo. You try to win over tourists with your magnificent animals such as bears, camels, giraffes, penguins, and so on. You place a variety of different things so your customers can buy food, drinks, go to the bathroom, and buy souvenirs. The wide variety of zoo animals you can buy and take care of is amazing in this game so you can almost never run out of ideas for new zoos. There are also special scenario levels where you try to reach certain goals in a specific time limit.

You use the stylus as a sort of mouse like the computer version. You choose different objects on the screen and place things the way you want with it. However, the stylus and the two screens really don't add anything to the game. I think it's a little more fun using the stylus than a mouse myself.

The graphics in the game are pretty much the same as the other Zoo Tycoon PC game so there really isn't much to say. The text may be hard to read for some people but I didn't have any problems with it. The music is pretty much the same and you can hear the animals but they don't make much noise. The game is somewhat repetitive but most fans will definitely like the fact that you don't need to be on the computer to play. I think it was a good idea to put Zoo Tycoon on the DS.

Click to learn more about GamerDad's Kid Factor review section. There is no violence except if you let the animals out, but the animals don't attack the people, the people just run away. Some reading skills are required but it's not really that big of a deal. For kids who think the regular game is too complicated there is a mode where you don't have to worry about money and you can make it as easy as you want.
