Commandos: Strike Force is a shooter game in which you control a small strike force ヨ Spy, Sniper and Green Beret (heavy soldier). Each has special skills that you need to exploit during several of the missions, either alone or with one other squad-mate. The game generally makes it obvious which specialty is needed at a given time in order to succeed. The controls for each of the commandos make sense and quickly become second nature. Unfortunately there is some very inconsistent behavior, such as losing critical weapons or disguises between missions even when there is no change of character or location. The combines three common shooter gameplay modes ヨ stealth, sniping and pure action ヨeffectively, but nothing particularly stands out. The same is true of the online multiplayer ヨ it is fun and provides some extra value for the game, but it is not something that will supplant any other online shooter games. The overall result is a game that is good fun but not a particularly moving or memorable experience.

Commandos: Strike Force is rated T for "Language, Suggestive Themes, Violence, and Blood". Given that the game is an action-packed shooter filled with intense firefights in a World War II setting, violence is a given. The game uses a minimalist approach to blood ヨ just a hint of spray to show that a target has been hit, but never anything graphic or gory. The language is almost exclusively from the stereotypical foul-mouthed American Green Beret, and is well beyond anything you would expect to hear John Wayne say in a movie.
The one that I found most interesting was ムsuggestive themes' ヨ there were two instances in the game of anything remotely suggestive: in one the Sniper needles the Spy after an absence, saying ムI hope she was worth it'. The other one was a very large Spy mission where one objective is to kill a Nazi general at a local brothel. While the setting is obviously suggestive, the execution of the brothel settings and customers is no worse than something from the 1960's comedy Hogan's Heroes.
The overall experience is very similar to that of other World War II games from two or three years ago such as Call of Duty ヨ frenetic action, constant danger, and some graphic situations that make this a game that is decidedly targeted at teens and older. But there is nothing gory or overtly sexual, nor does the action come close to the realism or frantic feeling of peril that many newer games provide.
