The Hitman series is about the genetically engineered clone agent #47 who is tasked to kill various criminal figures with minimal attention and maximum effectiveness. The fourth game in the series, Hitman: Blood Money continues that trend with a twistラyou are being hunted as you hunt down your contracts.
The game has a wonderful open feel that makes you think, allowing you to approach your target using several methods from accidents to stealth to brute force. Minor problems include the lack of intelligence of your targets and other characters, but these are relatively minor blemishes on what is otherwise a good single player game. The controls are solid for both console and PC versions, and the graphics look excellent on both the Xbox 360 and PC versions while scaling well to the PlayStation 2 & Xbox. This adult action game combines stealth and tactics with quite a bit of creative thinking. It's fairly long and features built-in replayability that provides a satisfying experience. ![]()
There are several examples of scenes in Hitman Blood Money that demonstrate quite clearly that the game is for adults. All of the factors that earned the game an M rating are on display in scenes integral to completing the missions. The most obvious is the violence inherent in the fact that you are a hitman, a paid killer who is executing someone's idea of justice in exchange for a fee. You are not paid to minimize harm, but to minimize exposure to yourself and your contractors. Provided with an array of killing tools from wires to syringes full of poison to remote triggered explosives, the combat is bloody and the kills are brutal, particularly the close-combat death of your targets.
Sexual content is pervasive throughout the game, but also appropriate to the missions and not gratuitous. At the same time, it is clearly not for younger audiences. If you assume the disguise of a pool boy in one mission, you will be told by the drunken lady of the house that the pool is not the only thing needing service, and then she leads you to her room. There is no nudity in the scene, but the sexual overtones are strong. This is also true in a scene that involves an adult movie mogul, where scantily clad women stroll around for the entertainment of the industry men present. If you listen in on conversations you will hear of the ムcreature comforts' available, and if you follow one of your targets after spiking his drink you will see him getting intimate with one of the women. Other mature elementsラdrug use, drug production facilities, random killing of innocents, alcohol use, occasional partial nudityラare all visible throughout the game. It's consistent in presenting a gritty and realistic view of the world, and none of the material seems out of place. This is an example of a mature game that uses materials and presentation appropriately aimed at an adult audience. This review edited by Dave Long Comments? Chat about it in our forums!
