What GamerDad says about the ESRB Content Descriptors:
Blood and Gore: Lots and lots. And in HD at high resolution too! Intense Violence: Yep, including vehicular manslaughter and the use of truly powerful weaponry Partial Nudity:Nude silhouette, risque clothing, strippers and streetwalkers Strong Language:F-word, S-word, um... okay, all the bad words are here. Strong Sexual Content:Strippers, whores, pimps, and rampant, if expected, misogyny. Use of Drugs and Alcohol:Drugs are your main source of income, and alcohol is how you party. Saint's Row is clearly inspired by Rockstar's Grant Theft Auto series, as it tries to outdo the controversial best seller in every way possible. This means better, more realistic, graphics. A better control/combat system. And more anti-social, criminal, role-playing than you can shake a glock at. There's busty babes, suggestive sexual themes, a wide variety of missions, and a bustling city to take a crack, a shot, or a baseball bat, at. The game concerns a gang controlled city called Stilwater and a small gang called The Saints, that invades the turf of the other gangs. You're character begins as an independant operator but the chance is there to climb the ranks and lead the Saints to a criminal underworld victory. Or, if you'd prefer, you can simply go on a murder spree and see how long you last against hordes of gun-toting gangbangers and the police. The City is populated, seamless (no level loading to break up the action) and Volition outdoes Grand Theft Auto with character customization. Want to be Snoop Dogg or look more like Weird Al from that White and Nerdy song? Fine, go ahead and play around. Saint's Row is just about as reprehensibly violent and anti-social as gaming gets and we DO NOT recommend it for children... but there's nothing wrong with a little virtual violence and gangsta rap fantasy among us adults, is there? ![]()
Saint's Row is based on the idea of being the biggest, baddest, and fly-est gangbanger in the city of Stilwater. A challenging task, with an incredibly high body count, and the option to turn your weapons, or vehicles, on innocent bystanders makes this the current leader in Mature gaming. The graphics alone grant the game this distinction.
Frankly it's amazing that this game isn't getting more attention from the media. But we at GamerDad don't believe a game like this will turn your child into a monster. We believe games like this are too mature in execution and the pleasures they provide are better suited to adults (who might have an early morning traffic reason to go on a virtual spree) than kids, who'd be better off playing something a bit more positive. In our opinion. Comments? Chat about it in our forums! Format For Printing | Tell A Friend | Digg | Slashdot | del.icio.us | Buy This Game Home > Review Archive > Video Games > Results: Saint's Row |
