Miss Spider's Scavenger Hunt is based on the computer animated children's show and the Miss Spider books from author David Kirk. The game lets players as young as four (the game is good for players aged 4-6) explore a colorfully animated world and play any of the arcade and educational minigames available, or play in story mode, where Miss Spider challenges children to team up with her four kids on a series of increasingly difficult scavenger hunts. Kids tell the little spiders where to go in the woods, and that world looks as colorful and vibrant as the television show. Kids will meet the cast of the show, who provide help or additional objectives and finding things is simply a matter of clicking on it to pick them up. It's sort of like those I, Spy games and books, except that these items are usually hidden. Aside from finding objects, kids will occasionally be tasked with challenges and puzzles. Kids will feel a sense of pride in figuring this stuff out on their own. The only drawback is that there's no way to randomize the objects, making every replay play the same way again. Miss Spider is still charming and effective. All 9 of the special challenges can be replayed in the explorer mode, and there are three difficulty levels to challenge children 4 and above (the box recommends the game for 3-year olds, but it proved a bit beyond our tester's abilities). Parents will like the colorful graphics (the game is one of the prettiest PC kid's game available), the mellow tone, and the charming way it introduces kids to the buggy world of the books, and encourages them to keep trying. The challenges are fun and educational, and they do a great job testing/teaching children about color matching, simple math, counting, and logic. ![]() Comments? Chat about it in our forums!
