Well now they're back and ready to open up shop on your Nintendo DS again with Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2. Just as in the first game, players select from three Tamagotchi partners and play touch screen mini-games based on real world occupations. Draw on the screen to decorate cakes in the Baker mini-game, drag around a bun to catch falling burger ingredients at the Fast Food Restaurant, and use the stylus to wash and repair cars in the Garage. Earn money to buy new shops, furniture for your Tamagotchi's room, and snacks to feet your pet. Though it's not really necessary to feed your Tamagotchi anything in this game. It's just for fun.

Graphics are cartoonish and the wacky sound effects are juxtaposed with soothing guitar background music. Play control is all stylus and touch screen based, and very easy to do. However, some of the goals in the mini-games are a bit unclear at first, and may take a try or two to get right. Also, since this is a kids' game, some of the mini-games can get a little repetitive after a while. Nothing has really improved from the first game. You can now take pictures of your creations to send to other players who have the game, but other than that it's more of the same. Even so, Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 manages to somehow be charming and likeable anyway.

Click to learn more about GamerDad's Kid Factor review section. Kids will love the cartoony graphics and characters, especially if they liked the Tamagotchi key chain games. There is no violence as all the mini-games are based on real life jobs. Players help others and make them happy rather than hurting them. Reading skill is helpful to know what to do in the mini-games, but even so, some instructions and goals are unclear, and when you don't do as well in a game there is very little instruction to tell you how to do better. And the poor translation with grammar errors everywhere doesn't help either. Luckily the game is still super easy and there doesn't seem to be any penalty for messing up. Still, some of the mini-games like the music rhythm may frustrate young ones. Corner Shop 2 may even be considered somewhat educational, as the mini-games require players to match colors, shapes, and recognize patterns and directions. So while Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 isn't without problems, it's still a somewhat charming and clever game for young would-be entrepreneurs who like to play pretend on what they'll be when they grow up.
