The ESRB says:
Mild Cartoon Violence: GamerDad made Kirby suck up enemies and spit them out at others, which turn into stars when defeated. Nintendo's pink puff Kirby had his strawberry shortcake snatched from him at snack time and now he's chasing down the Squeak Squad, a mouse band of thieves who have stolen all the treasures in Dream Land. Help Kirby get his stuff back in this new Nintendo DS 2-D platform jumping adventure. Kirby Squeak Squad is all classic Kirby gameplay. Kirby's trademark power is sucking up bad guys like a vacuum cleaner and spitting them back out at other foes. Kirby also fills up with air to float. But Kirby's best ability is copying the powers of some of his enemies. Swallow a fire enemy and Kirby breathes fire. Ice foes let Kirby freeze things. With more than a dozen abilities for Kirby to absorb, there are plenty of things to do, puzzles to solve, and secrets to find. All the action is viewed on the top screen of the DS, and the bottom touch screen houses extra items that you tap on for Kirby to use. Anything in a bubble can be saved on the bottom screen: abilities, food for energy, and treasure. Players can combine abilities to get random new ones, or combine foods to make better snacks to give Kirby more energy. If Kirby collects a treasure and keeps it with him to the end of the stage, he'll get to keep it. But watch out for the Squeak Squad! Once Kirby spots a particularly valuable treasure, the Squeak Squad mice pop on the scene to give Kirby a good chase and fight for the goodies. But it's worth the fight, as the treasures end up being good stuff for players with secret levels, new moves, and other treats. Music and visuals are all classic happy, bouncy Kirby, and play control is spot on. With gameplay to challenge and please both young and old, Kirby Squeak Squad makes for a fun adventure with everyone's favorite pink puff. ![]()
Kirby titles are some of the best games for the whole family. The breezy difficulty makes it fun for younger players to plow through (some bosses are a little tricky though), and older gamers can find challenge in getting all the secret treasures. Violence is minimal, as Kirby only sucks and spits out foes that turn into stars when defeated. Reading skill isn't necessary, as all of Kirby's moves for each absorbed ability are explained with picture cues when you pause the game. Get this Kirby game before the Squeak Squad does!
