Join Strawberry Shortcake and her friends as they try to get everyone's sweet dreams in Strawberryland back again! It seems that the Peculiar Purple Pieman has stolen Strawberry Shortcake's latest strawberry patch for his own, and managed to steal all the sweet dreams in the land to make his own dreams come true. It's up to you to follow along in this super sweet and super tame adventure that is really okay for any age that can read, or will sit through you reading it to them.

Go through story mode and get a nice short tale about Strawberry Shortcake and the Purple Pieman. This story's based on an upcoming movie of the same title, so you can stave off the Shortcake fans with this simple little Game Boy offering. As you progress through the different mini-games that break up the story, you see images directly from the new movie, and get a nice little story about sharing and friends. None of the games are especially challenging, but the first stage where you gather sweet dream bubbles while avoiding the sleeper's rising Z's can be a little difficult for some. All of the mini-games are simple collecting challenges that range from flying on the back of a butterfly, to riding a mine car through a candy factory. In all I think I spent a total of an hour playing the game from start to finish, even going back to collect a few more items for the last unlockable picture. I have to say, I was impressed with the quality of this one. Kids' games tend to be on the poorer side, but Sweet Dreams is really solid, although really short!

There's nothing even remotely questionable in this game. It's got a good story with good morals, and there's no violence. Stronger readers would be better for this one since there is a lot of reading to do between levels, but I sat down with my first grade daughter and helped her out with the words she wasn't sure of. Fans of the Shortcake series will be pleased with this little morsel.
