Cartoon Violence:GamerDad found very minor conflict situations that, well, it's a stretch to call them "violent." Crude Humor:Not as bad as it sounds. Just silly stuff like a football player throwing a baby bottle and having it land perfectly in the babies mouth. Lyrics:Nothing too outrageous, but some of the tunes are about grown up stuff. Nothing you can't find on the radio. Suggestive Themes:Romance plays a part in most of the stories and in some stories are about lovers. What a surprising game. Up until now the rhythym genre has largely been confined to the console arena. What about some handheld fun? Well, Agents are GO! with the hilarious, silly, offbeat musical sensation that is Elite Beat Agents. The Agents are a trio of black suited, sunglass-wearing, men in black who work for a hyperactive and hyperbolic General who sends them to solve people's problems (ookay) by dancing (what?). How? By attitude adjusting. See the Agents, presuming they dance well and you don't make mistakes, make the characters become pro-active about their problems and reach a happy ending. Really. Dancing is simple enough but becomes very challenging. Numbers appear on the screen with a circle around them. When the circle shrinks, you have to tap the number on the beat with the stylus (other challenges include spinning, rolling a ball, and more). To get an idea, imagine a fast-paced song (sung by the real artist) with you frantically tapping on the screen as the numbers appear. The action meshes well with the music and the music, for the most part is great. Here's a sample: YMCA Material Girl La-La Walkie Talkie Man All tunes are upbeat and all the stories are adorable. Help an artist named Leonardo get his model to date him, and smile. Help a movie director make a flick. Help a babysitter pacify the kids so she can flirt with the High School QB. The stories are presented comic book style and are often very funny. In fact, that's probably the hardest thing to convey about this game. How fun and funny it actually is to play. Lots of surprises, great music, and an attitude and polish that'll keep you playing and re-playing your favorite tunes. I can't recommend this game enough! ![]()
Aside from the lyrics (again, nothing you can't find on the radio) the only reason not to recommend this one to smaller kids is that it's very challenging. Timing is crucial and so is the ability to follow a beat, and this can help teach both to kids. Hey, with music programs being stripped away from public school, this might be the easiest way for parents to get their kids into music. Quickly, easily, painlessly, and with a lot of laughs.
