The ESRB Says
Mild Language: GamerDad heard some occasional cursing such as the 'h' and 'd' words. Violence: You are constantly shooting things down and destroying targets. Critical Portion: Some games are like movies in that you can almost see the pitch meeting - and then wonder what happened to it after that! Time Ace is like that - the idea of an overly ambitious assistant learning a bit about the future and stealing his bosses' time machine to travel through time to amass weapons to take over the world sounds great. Unfortunately the results are a game that is a few hours long at best, with levels that constantly feel the same as the last one with a new coat of paint. The gameplay consists of you seeking a single target per level, but having to face wave after wave of other enemies along the way. Then you jump to the next time period to continue pursuit. The controls are imprecise to the point that almost all of the planes feel pretty much the same and just look different. And before you know it you are done, and have no desire to play again, and the only multiplayer consists of every player having their own card. Single card game modes should be considered a must for titles such as these, and would have added much to the game. As it is, there is not a single thing for me to recommend about this game - it is a short, mediocre and listsless game that you will be glad to finish if you are unfortunate enough to start. ![]()
Time Ace is a nearly on-rails flight action shooter. As such you will be constantly shooting other planes and zepplins and spaceships and jets and tanks and so on. None of it feels personal, all of it is more like a shooting gallery. The language in the game is not out of place for someone constantly frustrated in their pursuit of a maniac, and is in line with the cartoon shows most 10-year olds watch on a regular basis. It is not even out of place for a scientist from before World War I. The difficulty can be pretty steep for kids, but I would have no issue for a skilled 6 or 7 year old playing this game.
