The ESRB Says
Violence: GamerDad had to shoot everyone he wasn't specifically assigned to protect.
Games that are introduced onto a new platform as extensions of existing games on other platforms have fairly limited missions - bring the experience to the new platform in a recognizable way and don't screw up the goodwill already gained. In bringing the Ghost Recon franchise to the PSP Ubisort seems to have forgotten all of that, and the result is a nice looking but otherwise generic shooter without much personality but with plenty of problems.
There is a sort of schizophrenia at the core of GRAW2's problems. You are supposed to take things slow and use tactics like you would on the PC or console version of the game, yet the basic game mechanics function as though you are playing a run-n-gun shooter. But then there is a problem with the controls and gameplay mechanics for shooting not being up to the task of a first person shooter. So you end up with a quandary as neither game mechanic works well enough to make for a terribly satisfying experience. Add to those problems the fact that the game is very short and only offers ad-hoc mode co-op multiplayer. While it is true there are worse shooters for the PSP, there are many more shooters that are better than this one, which is a shame since this franchise has done very well as a multiplatform shooter that takes advantage of the strengths of the PC and consoles.

The basis of this game is around you 'taking out' insurgents in the aftermath of the events of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and prior to GRAW2. It is a simple game of 'move someplace, shoot everything, move to next place, repeat'. There is no depth to the story or characters, nor is there excessive violence and certainly no blood or gore. Therefore, despite being Rated T and deserving it based on violence and death, I find this to be one of the more 'harmless' shooters and certainly accessible to pre-teens who have played other shooter games.
