The ESRB says:
Mild Violence: GamerDad made war planes and helicopters bomb tanks and troops, but there was no blood, only small explosions.
Glory Days 2 is a military action/strategy game for the Nintendo DS. It's supposedly a sequel to a relatively unknown Game Boy Advance title. Set at an unspecified war at an unspecified time, players pilot a helicopter or airplane, depending on the mission, and must bomb enemy barracks and rescue civilians. Later levels require more strategy, as rescued civilians provide you with resources to buy barracks, weapons, and troops so you can gain more ground on the battlefield. Play solo in campaign missions or set up your own battlefields, or take on another player who has a DS and a copy of the game.
View the action in a 2-D side-scrolling fashion very similar to classic games like Choplifter or Defender. Unfortunately, the graphics are so washed out that it's hard to see anything. Play control is even worse. Use the touch screen to steer your aircraft, and the D-pad to fire your machine guns and bombs. Actually this is fine when you are piloting helicopters, but with airplanes it's just awful. It's hard to accurately steer and drop bombs with the airplane, and don't even think about the fancier maneuvers like performing loops. And the optional D-pad controls aren't any better. At least the music is top notch, as it sounds like there's an orchestra with a choir in your DS.. It's unfortunate that Glory Days 2 isn't so glorious, because it certainly is a unique take on military action/strategy games.

Even though Glory Days 2 is about war and battles, violence is fairly minimal. You can bomb and shoot military vehicles, barracks, and troops, but there are no grisly deaths or blood, just small explosions. Reading skill is helpful to understand what you're supposed to do in missions as everything is text based. But because of the frantic and harried gameplay hampered by rough controls, most kid gamers would probably get frustrated with Glory Days 2. Get them some plastic army men to play with instead.
