Another reminder that reproducing something great in another medium doesn't result in something else that is great.
Reviewed for DS.

Board games are great family fun, and this game features some of the best and most beloved - Battleship, Trouble, Sorry and Connect 4. But while each is a faithful reproduction of the tabletop game, the package reinforces the reality that some games are just no fun unless played with others.
The games are accessed from a main menu, but function as individual programs with separate single and multiplayer modes. Each game has multiple game modes as well as the classic mode, and also has three difficulty levels.
A major problem is that the only way to challenge a friend if through multi-card play. While I can understand not having download play to an extent, the lack of any form of 'hot seat' mode means that the game is largely a single player experience. From that perspective, Battleship is likely to be the only game you'll play more than once. Connect 4 is fun for a bit, but the computer responses are so predictable that winning quickly becomes trivial. Trouble and Sorry are devoid of any fun when played alone, as you never care about anyone but yourself.
With faithful reproductions of classic games and nicely detailed graphics and animations, this game should be an excellent family fun activity. But the lack of critical multiplayer modes destroys any hopes for this to live up to the classic status of the games included.

When my wife wants to play a game, I am quick to let her. She has little tolerance for language or violence in games, and this game provided her the classic game of Sorry she was looking for. There is nothing objectionable in any of the games - they are fine for gamers of any age.
