But what about a good, solid experience that leaves you feeling like you didn't get enough? That is what we generally call 'lacking'. And so even though there is plenty of solid arcade racing on varied surfaces, you will end up wishing for more.

The game features 'instant action' races, Championship mode, Time Trials, and multiplayer. Instant Action lets you tear up any of the dozen or so tracks using your choice of car and tires. Championship takes you through three different levels with different races for a variety of cup challenges within each level. As you proceed and earn points you unlock cars with higher speed and control capabilities. Unfortunately your ability control the cars diminishing as their speed increases, so your effective lap speed might not change at all! Fortunately for PSP gamers your opponents are quite happy to have you win ... and on the PC and consoles you can just plan on practicing every car and track to perfection to beat the AI.

While on the PC and consoles your biggest frustration is that the AI opponents are too tough, the controls are going to be your biggest enemy on the PSP (with load times the second enemy) - the name of the game is power slides, but controlling them is terribly difficult as you tend to flail into spin-outs without reason. It doesn't matter what tires you choose or the surface - you will struggle for control entirely too often. And by the time you have figured it out you will realize that you've played everything the game has to offer. That is the real problem - what is there is solid and pretty fun, but there just isn't enough to recommend the game, and there are enough control frustrations to make it an unfortunately forgettable experience.

The audience is behind impenetrable barriers, so there are no concerns about doing harm to anyone. This game is just about fast paced rally racing.

Other Platforms:
PSP: Reviewed version.
PC: Same content as console versions, but really needs a gamepad
XBOX360 & PS3: Tough opponents make races too frustrating, good controls.
