GamerDad Seal Of Approval - All Ages. Click to learn more about our review seal. There are some amazing 'non-games' for the DS, and this is yet another one! There is no story, no characters to learn about except for your instructor names Tsunami; the game contains nothing but learning about music. You take an increasingly difficult series of tests about rhythm, chords and notes. The execution is brilliant simplicity - with flexible controls and a system that emphasizes really learning music through practice, this is a budget title that any aspiring musician owes it to themselves to try.

The tests remain the same but get more difficult as you proceed. Rhythm tests are simply a matter of repeating back drum patterns that Tsunami plays for you. Chord tests play a chord and give you a choice of three chords laid out on the piano to choose from. Note tests have you identify single notes - this is the toughest test and therefore needs to be unlocked by completing chord challenges. Things start easy - straight quarter notes in 4/4 time and basic chords in C. From there they get trickier - triplets in different key signatures and more difficult chord combinations. The difficulty builds naturally and there are plenty of tests to keep you busy. And when you are done - just go back and test yourself over and again - you can choose anything you've completed in any order.
