Cartoon Violence: GamerDad made cartoony animals fight other critters and evil minions.
Crude Humor: There are quite a lot of wisecracking jokesters in this game.
Mild Language: Really? Where?

That popular video game character, Crash Bandicoot, is up to his ears in trouble. His arch-enemy, Dr. Neo Cortex, has turned the animals on Crash's home island into giant freakish mutants. And he's kidnapped Crash's sister Coco, too. What's a bandicoot to do? And for that matter, what is a bandicoot anyway?

Crash of the Titans for Nintendo Wii is a 3-D platform jumping beat-em-up adventure. Crash hops, runs, and spins through various worlds, and punches, kicks, and generally clobbers freaky mutants and funny little evil minions. Crash collects Wumpus fruit for energy and mojo bits to upgrade his attack moves. When Crash faces a giant mutant animal, he can clobber the mutant enough to make it dizzy, then hop on its head and 'drive' around the gargantuan titan and take advantage of its special attacks and abilities.

Graphics are fun, bright, and colorful. The game is chock full of humor thanks to the funny lines from the voice cast. Evil minions who haven't spotted you yet will carry on funny conversations if you listen to them. Play control is responsive, even the Wii specific moves with the remote work well. Best of all, a second player can join in at any time as a carbon copy of Crash for double the fun. Crash of the Titans is definitely one of the better Crash titles.

Other Versions: Crash of the Titans is also available for PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance. They're all pretty much the same game, except the ones for the handhelds are more 2-D in nature.

Click to learn more about GamerDad's Kid Factor review section. Crash of the Titans is one of the better Crash games for kids. Most other Crash Bandicoot games are tough, with tricky jumps and one-hit-and-you're-dead gameplay. It frustrates even me! But not so with Crash of the Titans. Crash can take multiple hits, and there are selectable difficulty levels, too. And if younger players still need assistance (and they might in the harder stages toward the end), a second player can always join in and help them out. While Crash and his mutant titans punch, kick, claw, and shoot enemies, violence is only cartoony as defeated enemies just disappear in a puff of smoke. Reading skill is helpful, but not always necessary, as most of the game has spoken voice and what text there is usually has picture cues to go along with it. Crash of the Titans is certainly an improvement over previous Crash games.
