As your little ones start to grow, here are some excellent games to educate, challenge and entertain them!

We know that as your kids enter grade school age they are looking for some cool games - but you know that some games look acceptable for small kids but really aren't. Here are some of the best - 4 stars and better - games we've found for this age group. And guess what - most of these games aren't just for kids. In fact, many games here are amongst the GamerDad Staff's favorite games this year!

Each listing includes some comments about what makes the game appropriate or inappropriate for certain age groups, and some context to guide parents in evaluating the games. For more detailed information about the game, click the 'Read Full Review...' link for the game.

GamerDad Would Like To Add: We don't cover it formally (we cover 10 gaming platforms as it is) but I'd like to mention the game system my gamerkids play and played when they were this old. Leap Frog's Leapster system is rugged, affordable, and the games are simple enough that parents can sit back and watch junior figure it out for themselves. Actively learning AND entertainment? Leapster's got you covered. Best for 7 and under.
