The ESRB says:
Mild Language: GamerDad heard some cursing in the heat of aerial battles. Violence: Players are put in the midst of airplane dogfights and watch cutscenes that depict the effects of war. Namco's long running arcade flight combat series, Ace Combat, is now on the Xbox 360 with Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. Keeping with the tradition, Ace Combat 6 focuses more on quick, arcade style action over realistic simulation, as players can carry an ungodly amount of missiles and special weapons as well as refill and power up their ammunition in midair. New to the series is the ability to protect and command a cluster of air and ground planes and tanks for backup support and firepower. Complete missions to unlock newer and better fighter planes. Players can take part in more than a dozen missions as the story follows two fictional countries at war. Or you can enlist in online co-op and competitive dogfights with Xbox Live. While play control is complex because you must use every button on the 360 controller, flight veterans will be able to jump right in the cockpit due to the fluidity and responsiveness of the controls. Newcomers may want to practice a while with the thorough tutorial mode, though. The next-generation graphics are absolutely stunning and realistic, it's hard to tell when the cutscenes end and the gameplay begins. The only problems are the aiming reticules and radar blips are small and a little hard to read sometimes. Plus the game is pretty challenging, but luckily there are selectable difficulty levels in the missions. Fans of Ace Combat and other arcade dogfight games will definitely want to lock on to Ace Combat 6. ![]()
Violence isn't gory or bloody, but players do shoot down numerous aircraft and tanks. Plus the cheesy yet skip-able cutscenes show the effects of war on fictional people. Ace Combat 6 is best suited for teen gamers because of the more complex controls and challenging gameplay.
