The ESRB says:
Comic Mischief: GamerDad annoyed the heck out of Daffy Duck. Mild Cartoon Violence: Plenty of Looney Tunes style antics involving dynamite, bombs, and falling anvils. Remember the 1953 Looney Tunes cartoon by Chuck Jones where an unseen animator bugs the crap out of Daffy Duck? Well now you can relive all the humor and gags of that cartoon with Duck Amuck for the Nintendo DS. Use the stylus and touch screen to poke, prattle, and prod Daffy. Depending on your actions and where you poke and draw on the touch screen, Daffy will start a mini-game challenge for you to play. These mini-games are based on Daffy's cartoon roles and classic Looney Tunes gags. These mini-games utilize the special DS features such as the dual screen, stylus touch control, and microphone. Since the goal of the game is to make Daffy mad, in most of the mini-games your job is to make Daffy lose, not win. To read more about the mini-games in Duck Amuck in more detail, click here There are a few extras in Duck Amuck for DS. You can use a voice recorder to make your voice sound funny, or use the stylus to color your favorite Looney Tunes characters. If another nearby player has a copy of the game and their own DS, you can even play some games head to head. The visuals and audio in this game is amazing. The animation looks just like the cartoon, and Daffy Duck has TONS of voice lines. Unfortunately, while some of the mini-games are mildly entertaining, others don't control well and/or are hard to figure out how to play the game period. Plus Duck Amuck's length is very short. Most players will be able to unlock and play all the mini games in a little over an hour. Duck Amuck may be a neat novelty for cartoon buffs, but it's not worth full price for anything. ![]()
Kids will love pestering Daffy and the results are satisfying and cathartic. Violence is no worse than the Looney Tunes cartoons they watch on TV. Daffy gets blown to bits with dynamite, but he's always raring and ready to go another round. The game is all voiced, but reading skill is still helpful for the instructions for each game, although some of the written rules are still hard to understand. Kids will be delighted to have their own interactive cartoon on the DS, but the experience is very short lived so they may get bored quicker.
