The Power of Animal Crossing

animal.png(Thanks to Penny-Arcade and Kotaku for linking this…)

I’ve heard this story many times. It’s a common story. About the power that our little virtual worlds have to affect people in touching ways. Please do me the honor of clicking this link and watching this video. Maybe share it with your mom, dad, spouse, children or friends. I can’t add anything else – words fail – so I’ll let the video speak for itself.

Nothing more to say.  Comment if you like.

  1. This and so many other reasons is why Animal Crossing is on my top five list of all time favorite games…ever. Can’t wait for the alledged Wii version. –Cary

  2. Need a ‘Tissues Required’ warning. 😉

  3. It’s a great story, and my favourite game.

I really enjoyed sending the children mail, gifts, and burying things around their houses for them to find, or dropping some bags of bells 😉 I often tell my friends that with all the letter writing possibilities, it’s also a great reading aid.

Like Cary, I can’t wait for the Wii version.

  4. When I saw this the other day my first thought was “it’s Love You Forever for gamers”.

Oh, and fair warning – the YTMND page has been hacked at least once to throw up some rather.. different images, so it may happen again.

  5. Oh, and I knew I’d first heard this story a long time ago. This site has the background story.

  6. Oh, also – and I’m hesitant to say this because it kind of diminishes the story (but not the message) – the game itself sends out a large number of mails and presents from “mom”.
