Reader Letter – Praise!
Your site is great. Our 10 year old wants to buy all sorts of stuff for WII and DS, and your info is invaluable. My taste in games tends towards Tetris and other old “lame” things our son will have nothing to do with. From a parent who is a fan of your site. (I have told all my friends at a parenting list-serve about you too.) — Anonymous
Wow. Thanks and you’re welcome. I normally don’t print letters like this – we get them fairly often – but the reader has given me a chance to defend my favorite game ever!
Tetris is NOT lame! Seriously! It’s the finest game ever made and I adore it. Check out Tetris DS. They did the unthinkable, they improved Tetris. How? Head-to-head multiplayer. Go ahead read the review and then try and find the game.
I take your point though. I do run GamerDad because I can easily imagine what it must be like for parents who are clueless about today’s games and I know it helps because I have a built in filter system. My wife. GamerMom isn’t much of a gamer and that’s why a nerd like me understands so well how the mainstream non-gamers think. Games are weird, scary, and much safer than they look.

I love this site too and I always recommend it to my friends whose parents don’t understand games. Where’s my entry (:P). But yeah I agree tetris was great and revolutionary. I think what the writer meant is that 1. 10 year olds only like things that seem edgy to them and 2. he doesn’t want 10 iterations of the same puzzle game.
