Jones-ing for Indy … again!
In case you haven’t heard, Indiana Jones returns to the big screen this May with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Are you excited? I sure am!
I have to admit that my enjoyment of the second and third Indy film waned compared to the original, but all three were wonderful theater experiences … and now we have a sequel. Yahoo Movies has the trailer here – go check it out!
This is another of those great movie franchises that I’m excited about sharing with my kids. We have loved all things Star Wars, also enjoyed Batman Begins after having my kids thoroughly enjoy the 60’s show and animated series, as well as the film versions of so many other superheros.
They saw Raiders this past year for the first time, and completely loved it! We’ve watched it a couple of times since, and it has lost nothing through the years. The trailer looks quite nice and I hope that Lucas and Spielberg and the gang remember what made the original so great – and it was *NOT* the theme park ride inserted into the second film …

Of interest: not an actual Indy movie, but we started getting the Young Indiana Jones made-for-TV series from our local library, and while the spirit isn’t quite the same (young Indy is more often standing agog than actively *doing* anything), they’re pretty good.

The girls just saw this trailer on the front of Spiderwick Chronicles and they thought it “looked like being hit with a big brick of awesome”. And that was a direct quote. 😉
Except they think that Shia LaBeof needs to shave the mangy rat off his chin.

How did they like Spiderwick? Our about-to-be-10 year old is having his birthday at a dinner-theater to see that.

I’m working on a post here for it. It’s a little hardcore for PG, that’s for sure. Have you ever read the books yourself?

Yes, some of them …

My buddy teaches 5th grade and he brought his class to see Spiderwick. He said that there were a few that thought it was intense, but most handled it just fine.

They are definitely more ‘kid friendly’ than ‘The Edge Chronicles’ … if anyone has read those.
