Review – DDR: Hottest Party (Wii)

Dance Dance Revolution is an easy recommend for kids because it teaches rhythm and exercise. Even the boys should try it – men too – it might even help you survive a heart attack (true story). The Wii version adds arm movements to the mix. CommonSenseMedia.org has my review – showing here – and I gave it 4 of 5 stars and recommend it for anyone over 10 (7 if you don’t mind slightly racy lyrics)

I’ve heard the dance pad included with Hottest Party plugs into the Wii’s Gamecube controller port. If so, does this mean the pad is compatible with Gamecube’s DDR Mario Mix? That’d be a cool bonus of sorts.

RIght on both counts Mr. Bogumil. Look for a post in the next week or so about my kids playing Mario DDR together – finally!

And not just “of sorts” btw DDR, like most games, is better with two pads. DDR Mario – if you can find it + Hottest Party = satisfied older and younger children and the whole spectrum of DDR difficulty levels.

We love DDR Mario for the GC … it still gets play. One of my older son’s best friends has the Wii version and they played it loads during a recent sleepover.
Somehow it feels better when you know that they are up until 3AM jumping around to DDR, GH3 and Rock Band rather than couch-bound with Halo 😉

Speaking of games whose popularity I don’t understand.
