Animal Doctor – with Maggie!
One day not long ago two packages arrived at my door. One was a new star in Ubisoft’s intriguing “Imagine” series and the other was part of the “Pals” series. Both were for DS. One was Imagine Animal Doctor – a game whose packaging looks more like edutainment than a a video game – and Pet Pals Animal Doctor from Majesco – a game that looks like a kids game. Which is better? I wondered. Since I have an aspiring veterinarian in the house, I asked her.
“I like the white one better,” Maggie said when I showed her the games. “Can I have them!?!”
Maybe, we’ll see. So you like the white one? Why?
“That girl is pretty. Oh, I like the bunny on the other one . . . is that wolf going to eat him?”
That’s a dog sweetie, come on lets open them up and see how they play. Maggie rushed to find her Pink DS while I opened the games up. We noodled with both, giving each a solid 15 minutes. Okay honey, which one is better.
“Well both are a little boring, but Pet Pals had more stuff to do and read while Imagine (Animal Doctor) had less to do and looked more cartoony. Both were hard and kind of boring.”
Well sweetie, that’s what its like being a veterinarian.
“Oh, I’d rather be a fashion girl then.”
So I went downstairs to the Subterranean Lair and grabbed my copy of: Imagine Fashion Designer from the shelf.

This doesnt surprise me as my daughter is now sick of simulation games. I think the large amounts of text is boring which makes her skip it. Then the game is too challenging as shes skipped the instructions or she she just doesnt “get it”.
I must also admit that even myself who is a simulation addict find most of the imagine series a little monotonous.. Goodness… wheres a good “God” game when you want it… do they do Black and White on the DS ??!? 😛
