Super Engine GT Turbo SPEC (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

Race cars and try to place at least third in several road tracks in this top down viewed racer.  Super Engine GT Turbo SPEC is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Play control is simple.  Steer with the L stick, R trigger is for gas and L trigger for braking.  You can switch views by pressing the L shoulder button.  You can compete in four different classes.  Each class has eight tracks for you to race on.  If you come in third or above, you can move onto the next track and if you finish all the tracks in a class, you can go to the next one.  You can also toggle options and change the color of your car in the garage.

The game is serviceable but seems so bare bones.  I would’ve liked to have seen some instructions on controls, even though they are simple and easy to figure out.  Other modes would’ve been nice, like a grand prix, time trial or multiplayer.  And it seems nigh impossible to get first place after the easier modes.  The game really just needs more to make it feel worthwhile.

Kid Factor:

Super Engine GT Turbo SPEC is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.  You can bump into cars but that’s it.  Reading skill is helpful for the menu texts, but not necessary just to play.
