Pogui (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

Help a little pug navigate themed dream worlds in this 2D platform game.  It’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Your pup can run and jump, and that’s pretty much it.  You can hold down the button to run and jump farther, too.  Navigate platforms and obstacles and avoid enemies in themed dream worlds.  There are five worlds with four levels each, and they feature themes like toys, sweets, beach, space, etc.

This game does what it sets out to do and is fine, but I do wish the controls were a slight bit more responsive and with only 20 levels, it’s pretty short, too.  I was able to finish it in an hour.  But if you can’t get enough of simple 2D platformers, here’s another one for you.

Kid Factor:

Pogui is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.  If you get hit by an enemy or obstacle, you just disappear in a puff of smoke and that’s it.  Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play. There are three difficulty levels to choose from, so gamers of most any age should be able to enjoy it.  But very young gamers might need a little help with some of the tricker jumps and obstacles.
