I’ve been hearing a lot about K-Pop lately. I guess it’s become popular thanks in part to that K-Pop Demon Hunters movie and whatnot. And now you can play a free-to-play match three puzzle game on mobile devices (reviewed on iPad here) featuring favorite K-Pop stars in cartoony, “chibi” forms that make me think of those Tiny Tan Happy Meal toys McDonald’s had last year.
When you start the game, you’ll choose a little character and they’ll have music to go along with them while you play. It’s typical match three puzzle gameplay here. Slide around pieces with the touch screen to match three colors, and if you match four or more in different patterns, you’ll get a power-up to help you clear more pieces. You have limited moves to clear out certain tiles in each level. Do that and you’ll pass, but miss and you’ll lose a try. Lose all five and you must wait a while to start again.
With the in-game currency you get, you can decorate a virtual room with poster photos of K-Pop stars and adorn them with stickers. Oh boy. Clearly I’m not the target audience for this game. I guess that’s why I lost interest in this one quicker than other match three puzzles.
Kid Factor:
Nothing violent or objectionable here, unless you just don’t like the lyrics in K-Pop songs. Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play. Parental supervision is recommended for the in-game ads and purchases.
