MonkeyPaw Games is releasing some import PSOne titles you can download on your PS3, and this past week’s was Lucifer Ring. Since it’s all in Japanese, I couldn’t tell you what the story is about, but you play as sword-wielding Nash as he fights his way through goblins, dragons, and other evil beasties (one looks like Skeletor). This 3-D hack and slash reminds me of another PSOne classic called Dragon Valor, but since I imagine no one has heard of that one, I’ll just say it’s similar to Golden Axe with a little bit of Ghosts N Goblins themes thrown in.
Darklings (iPad)

Darklings is a unique touch screen action game available on the Apple App store (reviewed on iPad here). Play as a glowing Lum creature who can’t move, but can possess approaching creatures called Darklings. If these Darklings touch the Lum, you lose the game, so you must possess the creatures that come from the left and right sides to survive. Each Darkling has a symbol above its head. Draw that symbol on the touch screen to possess that creature. Keep doing that to survive wave after wave of Darklings.

Personally, I LOVE VeggieTales. It’s a fun computer animated series that combines great humor with Bible based lessons and values. And now Larry the Cucumber, Bob the Tomato, and the rest of the gang are entering into the 21st century with an interactive episode of VeggieTales for your iPad or iPhone (reviewed on iPad here).
Give My Ball Back (iPad)

This is the story of a little boy and his favorite toy: a ball. But every night when the boy sleeps, a monster lad who lives in his closet sneaks into the little kid’s room and takes his ball. So the next night, the little boy must enter the monster’s room and take his ball back. And the cycle repeats. Help the boy and the monster take back the ball in this puzzle game downloadable for iOS devices (reviewed on iPad here).
Double Dragon (PS3)

Double Dragon is widely considered to be one of the first side scrolling beat ‘em up games, and it had a huge impact on the video games and entertainment industries. It spawned several sequels in the arcade and ports on home consoles. They had crossover adventures with other video game heroes, such as the Battletoads. There was even an animated series and live action movie about Double Dragon. And only a couple of years ago, there was an 80’s reference-filled remake called Double Dragon Neon (and I even reviewed it). But did you know that at one point, there was a Double Dragon one-on-one fighting game? I didn’t know that, and I thought I knew all there was to know about Double Dragon. Anyway, this game was for the Neo Geo and Japan-only PlayStation. MonkeyPaw Games is releasing several import PSOne games for download on the PS3, and their first one is this Double Dragon title!
AntiSquad (iPad)

A group of militant gun-toting vigilantes are out to stop a drug cartel in Mexico. With a premise like that, you’d expect AntiSquad to be some kind of first person shooter action game. But it’s not! AntiSquad is actually a strategy game for iPad and iPhone (reviewed on iPad here).

If you enjoy match-three puzzlers like Bejeweled and Candy Crush, you may want to check out free-to-play Jewel Galaxy, out now on the App Store for iOS devices (iPad version reviewed here). In Jewel Galaxy, you can slide two jewels from anywhere on the board, they don’t have to be next to each other. Match three vertically, horizontally, or even diagonally to make them disappear. If you can match four or more, you’ll get special items that can help you clear out more jewels.

Jetbee is a free-to-play racing action game for iPhone and iPad (iPad version reviewed here). Play as Bimmy the Bee, who uses a jetpack instead of wings to fly to the goal. As you fly higher and higher, use power-ups to gain an advantage and use your earnings to decorate your beehive house.
