Most gamers are familiar with Nintendo’s popular characters, as they are known pretty well worldwide. But there’s one long running Nintendo series, with five games under its belt, which has stayed exclusively in Japan. And they all star Stafy, a little heroic starfish who has his own series of cute little 2-D platformers on the GBA and DS. I just imported the most recent one, fifth in the series, so I figured I’d write a little blog about this little known Nintendo character.

Have you ever played with one of those wooden marble maze games where you have to tilt it around to roll the ball to the goal? The Nintendo Wii certainly has its share of titles that simulate that classic game, using the Wii remote to tilt the environment around. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, Dewey’s Adventure…but the best and most fun example of this style of game was a little known early Wii title called Korornipa: Marble Mania. This spring, we’ll see a sequel called Marble Saga: Kororinpa. I recently got a chance to try a short demo of this upcoming game, read on to find out how it rolls:

The last few years has seen a flood of adventure games based on the Sherlock Holmes stories. This makes sense since the adventure genre is rip for clue-based mysteries and Holmes is amongst the most popular ad engaging characters of the mystery field. Most of these games are typical point-and-click adventures – you move from place to place looking for clues to help solve a grand mystery. In this crowded field, Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes does something different.

I’m told that in Germany, they have a weekly game night, These mostly involve ancient games of cards and extremely complicated board games. Hasbro wants people playing games again, specifically their games, and to that end they’ve released new versions of their old classics. Battleship, Connect Four, Sorry and Boggle to celebrate the release of the Wii version of Battleship, Connect Four, Boggle and… oh, Sorry. more…

When I went to PAX, tucked away in a little corner of Destineer’s booth was a game with one of the weirdest names I have ever heard. I just had to try it out. Turns out it was a pretty fun demo. Ever since it was released, the Wii console comes packaged with a surprisingly fun game to show off the capabilities of the Wii remote. That game is Wii Sports. Game makers have tried to imitate the fun of Wii Sports with their own motion controlled sports collections, but none have been as fun as the original. After receiving a letter with a strange request from his missing uncle, Mortimer Beckett journeys to the haunted Beckett family mansion. His uncle asks him to search for pieces of a Ghost Machine hidden in the mansion. Now Mortimer is on a spooky scavenger hunt to find this mysterious machine, rid the mansion of ghosts, and rescue his uncle.
