The Games of Capcom Fighting Collection 2

Game maker Capcom is known for lots of things, like Mega Man, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, etc.  But probably what they are known best for is their large roster of fighting games, such as Street Fighter.  They did a collection of them a few years ago, plus one last year that had all their Marvel games on it.  And now they’ve got another one with even more fighters!  So let’s take a look at the games on this collection.

Starlight Legacy (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

Back when I was a teen during the 16-bit days, I loved RPGs.  And with games like Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger, who could blame me?  I just couldn’t get enough of them.  Nowadays I’m not really into modern RPGs, but I’ll take notice anytime someone makes a throwback 16-bit style RPG.  Such is the case with Starlight Legacy.  As the story goes, many years ago a kingdom was at war and the sky people were forbidden to use magic after it was over.  But many years have passed and the sky people think that they should use magic again, so a separatist group sets out to attack the life giving Eternal Tree.  But are the separatists taking things too far, and is the king really doing the right thing by continuing to uphold that anti magic law?  That’s what you and two other warriors will find out in this 16-bit styled RPG adventure.  It’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Knight’s Night! (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

A knight must stop an evil wizard from doing something…evil in Knight’s Night!  It’s a retro inspired 2-D precision platformer with black and white graphics that remind me of the games I used to play on my old Apple ][+ computer.  It’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Sunseed Island (Switch, PS4, PS5)

On a small island grows a tree of life.  Animals sprout from this tree with little symbols dangling from their heads that gives them their job.  Everyone is happy with this until one day the tree starts wilting.  The last animal to come from that tree is a little cat with a sun symbol on top of its head.  You play as that cat as you farm, fish, forage, and help out your neighbors as you try and restore the tree to its former glory in this simple farming sim.  Sunseed Island is available on Switch and PlayStation consoles, but reviewed on Switch here.

Moe Waifu H: Push-Box (PS4, PS5, Switch, PC)

I don’t know what “Moe” means, but isn’t “Waifu” what you hook your internet up to?  Just joking!  I know it means like a pretend girlfriend or something.  Anyway, in this game you solve block pushing puzzles while unlocking outfits for anime ladies.  Moe Waifu H: Push-Box is available on current PlayStation consoles, Switch, and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Submarine Survivor (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

For someone who has never played Vampire Survivor, I sure have reviewed lots of clones of it!  I’ve reviewed ones with cats, frogs, and even wizards.  And now here’s one with submarines!  The creatures of the ocean have become monstrous and violent due to toxic waste, and it’s up to you to pilot your cute little submarine to shoot them and save the day.  Submarine Survivor is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Polterguys: Possession Party (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox X/S, PC)

One of my guilty pleasures is watching ghost investigator shows and silly paranormal stuff like that.  So I’m always up for playing a game about ghosts, too.  In Polterguys, you play as a cute little spirit who can possess different objects.  In the game you must possess items and gather ecto energy and other power-ups to keep away from a bigger, meaner, shadowy ghost and be the last one standing in this multiplayer focused title.  Polterguys: Possession Party is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Blazing Trail (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

When I was a kid back in the NES days, one of the big game makers was Konami.  They brought us such classics like Castlevania, Contra, and Life Force.  But one of their NES games that didn’t get as much attention was Jackal.  This was an army themed game where you drove around a Jeep in an overhead perspective and shot at bad guys.  I don’t remember playing it much myself, but in recent years I’ve read articles and watched videos of people having fond memories of Jackal.  So I’m glad I got the opportunity to review Blazing Trail, as it reminded me a lot of Jackal.  Drive around an armored vehicle and shoot at bad guys and rescue hostages in this 2D action game.  It’s available for all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
