Last Week at GamerDad! 1/21/08
If you’re looking for game reviews you want to move past this page and into GamerDad.com proper. But if you’re too busy to visit that site, and would like a handy weekly Round Up… well, have we got you covered!
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles for PSP – Mike Anderson, the fearless vampire killer, is only mildly impressed and recommends this game for 14+.
Gears of War for PC – Mike Anderson takes the gears out for a spin and finds them rusty (I’ll be disagreeing with him at another website soon) and best for over 18.
Avatar: The Burning Earth for GameBoy Advance – Cary Woodham enters the cartoon world of elemental Eastern magic. Mildly impressed he thinks this one is best for 6+.
Soldier of Fortune: PayBack for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 – Mike Anderson uses high tech weaponry to really cause some violence – to the game itself. It’s bad folks. Bad and only recommended to 18+
FIFA ’08 for PC, PSP, DS, Xbox360, PS3, PS3 – Simon Windmill believes that EA Sports has finally scored that elusive GOOOOOOOAAAL the series has been needing. Recommended for 10+ due to difficulty, but soccer playing 6+ can probably handle it.
Please feel free to come back here and discuss any of these games! We appreciate your feedback.

I am all for disagreement 😀
But Soldier of Fortune: Payback is one of my biggest disappointments of the year. I love SoF2 in particular, so was hoping for *something* here … I went in with very low expectations and a very forgiving attitude, yet was *still* sorely disappointed! Too bad …

It’s insane that Castlevania doesn’t have SotN unlocked.

It is also amazing that 10-year old games have lousy frame-rates on a very powerful portable console. My older son demanded that I keep this one rather than trade it away on Goozex …

There’s a certain Guilty Pleasure you get from Soldier of Fortune: Payback. Otherwise, it’s an average/bad game. If you’ve seen Saving Private Ryan, you’ll probably be able to deal with the blood n’ guts though.
