Ted the Jumper (iPad)

TED_BOXMeet Ted.  He likes to jump on small floating objects over a large body of water.  And that’s all there is to Ted.  Ted the Jumper is a smart little puzzle game downloadable for iOS and Android (reviewed on iPad here).

Your job is to jump on all the floating blocks on the water in each level.  When you do, you can move onto the next stage.  Use the touch screen to tap where you want to go.  Ted can jump to the left, right, and in front of him, but he can’t jump backwards.  Ted can also jump pretty far, so if you need to hop on a block way across the other side of the screen, don’t be afraid!  Ted can do it!  The trick is to find the best path so you can hop on all the blocks.  Later levels have special blocks that act as barriers or let you jump backwards once.

If you make a mistake, you can redo your last few moves.  But starting over isn’t too bad since levels are short, too.  After a while, you can also tap a hint icon seemingly endlessly if you get stuck.  Ted the Jumper also features tranquil music, extra difficult stages and timed challenges with leaderboards.  If you enjoy puzzlers, you may want to check this one out.

Kid Factor:

Reading skill is helpful for the rules, although it’s not too hard to figure out just by playing.  Since it’s a puzzle game, Ted the Jumper could also be considered educational since it reinforces thinking skills.
