Hola! Amiibos! (Wave 3)

AMIIBO_LOGOWell, I finally managed to get all of the Wave 3 Amiibo figures (well, almost all of them), so here’s a blog about them!  Amiibos are Nintendo’s answer to Skylanders and Disney Infinity, but since the Amiibos are based on characters that I actually like, I’ve made more of an effort to collect them.  So check them out!

Here is a shot of them in their packages.  I know that they’re not worth as much after I opened them, but I wanted to use them in the games, and storing them in their packages would take up too much room!  From left to right, top to bottom, we have: Mega Man, King Dedede, Sonic, Bowser, Sheik, Toon Link, Ike, Shulk, and Rosalina.

Here they are, out of the box.  My favorites include Mega Man, King Dedede, and Rosalina.  I just love the details that went into these figures.  Mega Man has a shiny metal finish, Bowser is cool and huge, and Rosalina’s dress even sparkles!  Sonic?  Eh, he’s OK.  Never been a fan of Sonic.

Next up is Ike, Shulk, Sheik, and Toon Link.  I put King Dedede in the picture again, too, so you can see the back of his robe has his insignia on it.  Also, the puffy white parts of his robe are sparkly, too.  Ike (and Marth) have symbols on the back of their capes, too, but they don’t show up as well in pictures.  Plus King Dedede is way cooler anyway.  I’m not a big fan of Shulk, but I have to say the level of detail on his figurine and weapon is amazing.  The Amiibo toys may be a little more expensive, but when you see the detail on these things, you’ll understand why.

So finally I’ve updated my ‘hoard’ shot to include Wave 3.  My collection’s getting pretty big!

HOARD3

Unfortunately, like I said before, I wasn’t able to get ALL the Wave 3 figures.  You see, four of the figures were store exclusives.  I reserve all my Amiibo figures at GameStop because there is one near my house so it’s easier for me to do that there.  Say what you will about GameStop, but the one near my house has employees who were super helpful and were willing to hold onto the ones I reserved until I was able to pick them up.  But it’s hard for me to go to other stores because I’ve been blind in my left eye since birth and can’t drive a car.

I managed to get the Shulk exclusive figure because that was the one you could get at GameStop.  I got REALLY lucky getting the Rosalina figure because there is also a Target near my house, so when I found out what day they would release them, my friend and I woke up right when the store opened that Sunday and we even had to wait in line to get ours!  But the Lucario figure and the Meta Knight figure were exclusive to Toys R Us and Best Buy respectively, and there’s not either of those stores nearby.  I tried to order them online but the Best Buy site wasn’t taking pre-orders, so I don’t know how short of a window they were.  And Toys R Us’ site was so disorganized I couldn’t even find Amiibos period!  It’s a shame, too, because I was very close to completing the collection, and I really wanted Meta Knight, too.

So anyway, if any of you know any way that I could get those figures, or can help me out in doing so, please let me know, I’d appreciate it.  Next time I’ll talk about the Amiibos in the Super Mario series that’ll be out when Mario Party 10 is released.  I have them all reserved at GameStop as well, but I had to order Toad online for some reason.  Luckily the employees there helped me do so in the store (like I said, the GameStop near me is great).  And then after that is Wave 4, and I hear Pac-Man from Smash Bros. is part of that set, so I hope to at least get that one!  Later!  –Cary
