Skylanders Superchargers (and PowerPuff Girls) Toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals

This month, Skylanders Superchargers (and PowerPuff Girls) toys are in McDonald’s Happy Meals.  Since Skylanders is a pretty big deal here at GamerDad, I figured I’d post a bit about it.  Click for more pictures and info!

Looks like all the Skylanders toys in this set are based on the newest game: Skylanders: Superchargers (check out my review here).  Vehicles were the main focus in this title, so all the toys here are just rolling cars and such.  The toy I got was some fire dinosaur guy.  I’m sorry, there are too many Skylanders for me to remember all the names!  The Skylanders toys are in the ‘boy’ category, while the girls get PowerPuff Girls.  Although I’m a guy and I think PowerPuff Girls are awesome.  Unfortunately for the girls, I think the boys got the better deal here.  Included with the Skylanders car is a set of stickers, some of which you can put on the car as decals.  You also get a Battlecast card that you can scan into the new Skylanders Battlecast card game on mobile devices (I’ll have a review of that up shortly).  And finally you get a token that tells you that you can scan your toy in some McDonald’s app for a free game.  I haven’t tried that out.  Anyway, here’s a picture of everything I got in the Skylanders Happy Meal.

 HAPPY1

I think I probably got one of the worst PowerPuff toys, as it’s just a hair clip with some mangled rainbow hair attached to it.  And a token for a game in that app as well.  I’ll give it to some little girl who will enjoy it.  The other toys look like three different figures of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, a Buttercup shaped mask, and a figure of Mojo Jojo (Aw, man, I would’ve loved to have gotten that one, oh well!).  I loved the old PowerPuff Girls cartoon.  There’s a new reboot of it on Cartoon Network now, hence why the toys were made, I’m sure.  I don’t like the new one as much as the older cartoon, but I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone on the internet says it is.  Here’s a picture of the Happy Meal.

 HAPPY2

I think it’s interesting that they still use the classic-shaped Happy Meal boxes like I got when I was a kid.  But there isn’t a trace of Ronald McDonald anywhere.  Which is sad in a way, since I remember all those trippy McDonaldland commercials when I was little. Kids today will never know characters like the Hamburglar and the Fry Guys.  Oh well, it was a different time.  The back of the new Happy Meal box does still advertise the Ronald McDonald House charity, which is cool they still do that at least.  Next month’s Happy Meal toys are based on the new movie: The Secret Life of Pets.  I probably won’t get any of those, but the movie does look cute.
