Hey, G.P. the GamerPuppet here! Recently, Cary got the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition, so I’m here to unbox it and show you what’s all inside! Sonic Mania is a return to classic 2-D Sonic games like what you remember on the Genesis. For the most part, it’s Sonic done right. Anyway, let’s take a look and see what all you get!
Metroid Amiibo

A 3DS remake of the Game Boy title Metroid II: Return of Samus was recently released, and it’s called Metroid: Samus Returns. It was also released alongside two new Metroid themed amiibo figures, and naturally I got them (and the game, too). So let’s take a look at the new Metroid amiibo and what they do.
Super Comboman: Smash Edition (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Super Comboman has been available on PC for a while now, in fact, my friend reviewed it here a couple of years ago. Now you can download the Smash Edition for PS4 and Xbox One (reviewed on PS4 here). I don’t know what’s different about the Smash Edition, as I never played the original game. You’ll play as Struggles, a portly guy with a talking fanny pack who is trying to earn money by working at the DodoCo Contruction Company to pay off the mortgage for his house where he and his little brother live. And he’ll beat up and pummel all manner of baddies in the process in this 2-D brawler platformer.
Pankapu (PS4, PC)

An evil being has taken over the land of dreams, and a good spirit uses the last of its energy to create the hero Pankapu. As Pankapu, you’ll run, jump, and fight your way through beautifully hand-drawn stages in this downloadable 2-D platformer on PS4 and PC (reviewed on PS4 here).
Bleed (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Bleed is a somewhat unique run and gun shooter platformer featuring retro graphics and sensibilities. The story is a little unclear. I think you’re a girl who is either gunning to be the number one video game hero or she’s just imaging it all (as you see her on the start screen writing a story at her desk and you select stages off a list that she’s writing). But once you start playing, it really doesn’t matter as you’ll just be shooting everything that moves in this frantic downloadable game for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (reviewed on PS4 here).
Boost Beast (Switch)

The entire human race has been turned into zombies, and it’s up to a group of animals to save the day. It may sound like a dark premise, but Boost Beast is actually a very cute match-3 puzzle game. Oh no, not another review of one of those kinds of games, you might say. But this one’s a bit different, as it’s available to download on the Nintendo Switch!

Run your own fleet of restaurants and feed customers in Meshi Quest: Five-Star Kitchen. You’ll prepare (mostly) Japanese cuisine like sushi, yakitori, curry rice, ramen, and much more! It’s a free-to-play downloadable game for iOS and Android devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
Super Phantom Cat 2 (iOS, Google Play)

Super Phantom Cat 2 is a 2-D platformer sequel to a mobile game I reviewed last year. In the new game, Ari the cat and his little sister Ina are exploring some ruins when they find a giant robot. A UFO swoops down and captures the robot and Ari’s sister, so now he sets out on a new adventure to save them. Super Phantom Cat 2 is a free-to-play download for iOS and Google Play, but reviewed on iPad here.
Reader Review: Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma (PS4)

Recently I got a review code for Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma on PS4. I don’t really know much about the series, and it didn’t really interest me at all, so I thought I’d change things up a bit and have one of my younger brothers, Benjamin Woodham, review the game for me. He even changed things up a bit more and wrote the Kid Factor first instead of last. But sometimes it’s good to change things up a bit so we’re going to keep it that way this one time!
