0 Degrees (PS4, Switch, Xbox One)

You are a climber exploring snowy mountains, and you have the power to create ice blocks.  Solve platforming jumping and block pushing puzzles in this 2-D action game available for most current consoles but reviewed on PS4 here.

Each level is a single screen, and there are 40 of them in all.  You start at the left and must make it to a portal on the right.  Sometimes you must press a floor switch to open a door, or collect a diamond icon to make the portal appear.  Avoid spikes and pits along the way.  One button lets you fire an ice blob that turns into a block when it hits a wall.  Jump on and push these blocks to hold down switches and provide platforms so you can progress.

You can aim these blocks by moving a little crosshair that you control with the R stick.  Only problem is the game doesn’t explain that feature very well, so I had a hard time at first aiming blocks.  But even with the crosshairs, it’s a bit hard to aim, and since you only have a limited number of shots, it can be a bit frustrating at times to have to start the level over so much.  Only other problem I had with the game was the lack of gameplay variety.

Kid Factor:

0 Degrees is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.  You can hit spikes or fall off ledges, but you just disappear and start back at the beginning, so violence is pretty minimal thanks to the simplistic graphics.  Reading skill is helpful for the text, and younger gamers may find the puzzles too difficult.
