Italy: Land of Wonders (Mobile)

You have just taken a job as a lighthouse keeper in Italy, but it turns out to be more than that.  You learn that you must collect sparks that keep Italy beautiful every night, with the help from some spirits of course.  Gather these sparks by playing a puzzle maze game while you learn facts about Italy’s geography, architecture, food, culture, and landmarks.  Not surprisingly, this game was actually published by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, maybe to promote tourism or something?  At any rate, this game is free on mobile devices, but reviewed on iPad here.

You’ll start in a region of Italy and each level is a little isometric maze.  You can rotate parts of the maze by tapping on them, and your job is to make a clear path to the spark at the end.  In some levels you must finish within a time limit, while other levels you have a certain number of moves.  The very last level in each region requires you to make a path to two sparks!  When you complete a level, you’ll earn stars and an entry in a notebook with pictures and facts on Italy that you can view at any time.

If you run out of moves in a level, you have the option to answer a quiz question about Italy for more moves, or you can buy them with the stars you’ve collected from completed levels. This game really didn’t hold my interest for very long, but it’s not a bad game.  If you want a simple little maze puzzle game that gives you the option to learn more about Italy, by all means, try this out as it’s free.

Kid Factor:

Nothing violent or objectionable here, and no in-game purchases that I could find.  Reading skill is still needed, but the game could be considered educational as it teaches facts on Italy.
