nBlocks (Switch)

Make your own pixel art style pictures with blocks that resemble LEGO pieces in nBlocks for Nintendo Switch.  And that’s it, really.

Play control is easy.  Select pieces and place them with the A button, and move around selected pieces with the L stick.  Cancel selections with the B button, and cycle through all the colors with the L and R buttons.  And finally, rotate them with the ZL and ZR buttons.

There are three modes of play.  Freestyle lets you create your own pictures and save them with a selection of blank slates.  Challenge modes has you creating existing pictures with the right colors.  And finally there is Expansion mode with even more pictures to do, but you have to buy them on the Nintendo eShop.

I guess my only problem with this game is that I wish you could have bigger fields to make more complex pictures.  It’s really more of an activity than a game, but I do like the satisfying clicking sound the blocks make when you piece them together, and it’s strangely fun and relaxing.

Kid Factor:

Nothing violent or objectionable here.  Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play.  I think kids would really like this one, but parental supervision is recommended for the in-game purchases.  Adults may even find it relaxing as well.  nBlocks is rated E for Everyone.
