Glyphs of Gitzan (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)
Help an explorer discover the secrets of ancient ruins by pushing blocks around that light up glyphs when put in the right spots. Glyphs of Gitzan is a block pushing puzzle game and it’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
Controls are simple, just use the control stick to move your character around. Push against a block to move it and that’s it. Each level has glyphs on the floor and you pass the level when you can light them all up. The blocks have arrows on them that show which direction they can light glyphs up. Sometimes you must watch out for obstacles like spikes which will make you start the level over when you hit them. There are 50 levels in all.
Really the only problem I had with this game is that sometimes it was hard to see the arrows on the blocks because the graphics are so small. There’s so much wasted space on the screen that they could’ve easily let you zoom in on the action to make it easier to see. But otherwise this is a decent and serviceable puzzler.
Kid Factor:
Glyphs of Gitzan is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence. If you get hit by spikes, it doesn’t even show anything. You just immediately start the level over again so hardly any violence at all. Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play. The game could be considered somewhat educational as it enforces logic and thinking skills. Younger gamers may need help with the tougher puzzles, though.
