The Day I Became a Bird is a children’s picture book published about a decade ago.  Then a few years ago, it was made into an indie film that won some international awards.  I’d love to be able to watch that, but I can’t figure out where I can.  Anyway, now you can play a game based on the book and film, too.  You play as a boy who falls for the new girl in your class, but she’s obsessed with birds.  She watches them out the window, draws pictures of them, and even wears bird barrettes in her hair.  So the boy decides to dress as a bird to get her attention, ignoring the ridicule of his classmates.  It’s a cute story, and now you can play an interactive version of it on Switch, PlayStation consoles, and PC (reviewed on Switch here).

The game is broken up into four chapters, and you’ll do activities based on the story.  You may need to solve a simple jigsaw puzzle, or find items in the classroom or park, or go through rings on your bike or while flying.  You can do actions with quick time style events or simple button presses, but it’s pretty easy and there’s no way to lose either way.  You can also collect feathers in each activity but I have no idea what they do.  It’s a cute story and a cute game, but it’s pretty short and easy so I don’t know how long it’ll keep anyone’s attention unless they’re just big fans of the book or film.

Nothing violent or objectionable here.  Reading skill is needed, though.  The Day I Became a Bird is rated E for Everyone.
