Oh no, not another review of one of those kinds of games, you might say. But this one’s a bit different, as it’s available to download on the Nintendo Switch!
Run your own fleet of restaurants and feed customers in Meshi Quest: Five-Star Kitchen. You’ll prepare (mostly) Japanese cuisine like sushi, yakitori, curry rice, ramen, and much more! It’s a free-to-play downloadable game for iOS and Android devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
Super Phantom Cat 2 is a 2-D platformer sequel to a mobile game I reviewed last year. In the new game, Ari the cat and his little sister Ina are exploring some ruins when they find a giant robot. A UFO swoops down and captures the robot and Ari’s sister, so now he sets out on a new adventure to save them. Super Phantom Cat 2 is a free-to-play download for iOS and Google Play, but reviewed on iPad here.
Recently I got a review code for Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma on PS4. I don’t really know much about the series, and it didn’t really interest me at all, so I thought I’d change things up a bit and have one of my younger brothers, Benjamin Woodham, review the game for me. He even changed things up a bit more and wrote the Kid Factor first instead of last. But sometimes it’s good to change things up a bit so we’re going to keep it that way this one time! Usually when I write these PAX articles, I’ll talk about my favorite companies first, like Capcom and Nintendo. But this year I decided to change things up and save them for last, and let other companies have the spotlight first. So for my final PAX West 2017 article, let’s take a look at what some of my other favorite game companies had at the show.
Like I said in my previous PAX article, I had more meetings at this PAX than any other. You could say I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. In gaming terms, I was running around the show like a speedy blue hedgehog to attend all those meetings. Speaking of which, I did meet with SEGA and played a new Sonic game. Not to mention a bunch of awesome upcoming titles from Square-Enix and even Atari! And many more, too, so we’d better get started!
The Penny Arcade Expo, or PAX for short, is one of the largest video game conventions open to the public. I go to PAX every year, at least the ones in Seattle (PAX West), and San Antonio (PAX South). This past weekend I went to PAX West, and it was notable because I think I had more meetings at this PAX than any other! More than 15 meetings, in fact! So with all those games to cover, we’d better get started!
My family redecorated the front bathroom in the house a few months ago. And since it’s video game related, I thought I’d share pictures of it with you. It’s Mario themed. You know a character is popular when they get bathroom decorations modeled after them.

Graceful Explosion Machine hearkens back to the days of classic arcade shooters like Defender. Pilot your spacecraft around continuously looping screens as you shoot everything that moves. When there’s nothing left to shoot, you win and move onto the next level. The game is available to download on PS4, Switch, and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
