One of SEGA’s greatest games on the Nintendo GameCube was Super Monkey Ball and its sequel. You rolled around as a monkey in a hamster ball, trying not to fall off the edges of challenging mazes, not to mention playing fun mini-games like bowling and target practice. Now the monkeys are rolling, no, bouncing onto iOS and Android devices (reviewed on iPad here), in a game that’s not quite what you would think. Super Monkey Ball Bounce is more akin to a pachinko machine. If you enjoy playing games like Peggle, you may want to check this one out, especially since it’s free-to-play.

BoxPop derives its rules from the game of chess. Your job is to clear as many squares as possible from various boards. But the rule is that you can only clear out squares in the way that knights move on a chess board (two squares up and one square left or right). Use careful planning to clear as many squares as you can in this puzzler available for download on iPad and iPhone (reviewed on iPad here).

So there are these luminous critters who suspiciously look like those guys from Cut the Rope, and they like to take naps in dark, ancient ruins. But one day their babies decided to wake up and get lost in the shadowy catacombs. Now it’s up to the grown-ups to light the way and save their kids! Light in the Dark is a unique game that requires you to solve light and shadow puzzles along with some color mixing, too. It’s available to download on iOS devices, Android, and Windows Phone, but reviewed on iPad here.

Last time, we left off boarding the Hogwarts Express train from Universal Studios to Islands of Adventure, their sister theme park. Even though it was just a simple train ride, the Hogwarts Express ended up being one of the best rides at the park, due to the theming and atmosphere. Find out why and see more of Islands of Adventure in this blog entry.

Over the weekend we went to Universal Studios and its sister park: Islands of Adventure. In some ways, I actually liked Universal Studios better than some of the Disney parks. Well, maybe not better than Epcot, but certainly better than Animal Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Read on to find out why!

Next day we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I didn’t enjoy this park as much as I thought I would, though. It was unusually crowded and hard to get around. But there were still a lot of fun things to do so let’s take a look.

The next day we relaxed at the Typhoon Lagoon water park, but I didn’t take any picture there. I didn’t even bring my camera because, you know, it’s a water park. But the day after we went to Animal Kingdom, one of the newer Disney parks. I’m not as big of a fan of Animal Kingdom, though. Don’t get me wrong, I like animals and all, but there’s not as much to do at this park and it seems like there are less animals at this park and more people dressed up as animals.
