9 Holes of Cary’s Top Golf Games

GOLF1In honor of the recent release of Mario Golf: World Tour on 3DS, I thought I’d list my top 9 favorite golf video games.  Why 9?  Because there are 9 holes in golf.  Well, actually there’s 18, but half that and you get 9.  Plus I couldn’t think of 18 golf games I liked.  And when my dad used to play golf, if he didn’t have all day he would just play 9 holes, so I think it’s legit.  Anyway, golf may sound like a boring sport, but there are some video golf games that I think are pretty fun.  Just be warned that all my picks are, not surprisingly, silly and whimsical golf games.  So you won’t see any Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, or Lee Trevino on here!  So let’s tee off!  FORE!

Reader Review: Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest (PC)

ADVENTURE_BOXAdventure Time is one of Cartoon Network’s most popular shows, and now there is yet another game featuring the adventures of Finn and Jake. Their computer friend BMO has been kidnapped (oh no, not BMO, he’s my favorite character), and now the boy and magical dog duo have to go rescue him in this beat ‘em up adventure on Steam. One of my younger brothers, Nathan Woodham, is a big Adventure Time fan so I had him review this game, so check it out!

Lethal Lance (iPad)

LANCE_BOXWith his tough sounding name, scruffy beard and clothes, and gun-toting ways, Lance is about as lethal as a marshmallowy little man with stubby legs can be. Which isn’t much. For reasons we do now know, Lethal Lance is tasked with shooting critters, collecting coins, and hopping over obstacles in this 2-D run-and-gun platformer for iOS devices (reviewed on iPad here).

Top Five Kirby Games that Cary Thinks Should Be Made

KIRBY_BOXThose of you who know me or are familiar with my blogs and articles know that I love Kirby games. It’s probably my favorite Nintendo franchise. In this one, we’ll look at five Kirby games that I think they should make next!

Free Dum (iPad)

DUM_BOXA ladybug (unfortunately) named Dum has been bugnapped by Max, a mean little kid whose room is a torture chamber for insects. Kind of like Sid’s room from Toy Story, except with bugs, not playthings. Now Dum must escape mazes filled with traps and tricks in this action game for iOS and Android (reviewed on iPad here).

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma (PS3)

BLAZ_BOXBlazBlue is a series of one-on-one 2-D fighting games featuring beautiful hand-drawn sprites and backgrounds, a unique cast of characters, and one of the most complicated sci-fi back stories of any fighter I’ve ever played. And now you can enjoy the newest in the series on your PS3 (and soon to be released on Vita in a few months).

Cary’s Pre-Summer Movie Round-Up

LEGOCOWBOYUsually during the winter and spring months at the beginning of the year, I don’t see very many movies in theaters. The majority of the movies I see are during the summer months when all the mindless blockbusters come out. At the end of the summer, I usually write a round-up blog about the flicks I saw during those months. But this year, I actually saw enough movies during the winter and spring seasons that I can write a blog about them now! So here’s a blog about the films I saw BEFORE the summer movie blast that’ll hit us in a few weeks. Oh yeah, just a word of warning. I’m going to try and keep this blog spoiler free, but if a tiny spoiler trickles out, I’m just letting you know it might happen.
