Game Review: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis (PC, Xbox 360)

DIVINITY_BOXDivinity 2: Ego Draconis is the sequel to the cult classic PC RPG Divine Divinity that came out a few years back. In the sequel, choose to be a male or female Dragon Slayer, and customize your appearance and voice. Straight out of the Academy, you spend the first hour of the game in a special town to get initiated as a Dragon Slayer in a mystic ceremony. Then choose your profession as a sword master, archer, or mage (you can master all the skills later). But prematurely into your initiation, reports of dragons have appeared in another village, so you’re whisked away only to have a run-in with evil forces which transform you into the very thing you’re trying to kill—a dragon. Now as a warrior who can change into a dragon, you’re charged with saving the land from the returning evil lord Damien in this action RPG for PC and Xbox 360 (360 version reviewed here).

Cary’s Best Video Games of the Past Decade Awards Show Special!

kobuniconWhen I was writing my “Cary’s Best Video Games of 2009 Awards Show” blog, it donned on me that not only is this a new year, it’s also a new decade, too! And I also realized that for the past decade, every year I’ve written some kind of ‘Best Game of the Year” article in some form or fashion. And I still have them on record! So I thought it would be fun to make a special blog and look back and see which games won my Game of the Year Award for each year of the past decade!

Cary’s White Christmas

katamariiceiconWell folks, I know you might be tired of reading these, but here’s MY typical ‘what I got for Christmas’ blog. But since Christmas is about giving as well as receiving, I’m going to tell you what I got others as well. Also, some of my most memorable presents of years past, and a few short impressions of the games I’ve been playing lately.

Game Review: Squeeballs Party (Wii, DS)

SQUEE_BOXSqueeballs are fictional living plush toys (think Madballs from the 80’s only much less disgusting), and they are manufactured and produced on a far off island. Before they can be shipped off to toy stores around the world, Squeeballs must go through some rigorous testing. In Squeeballs Party (Wii version reviewed here), YOU are the tester and must toss, squish, and splat these little guys in this mini-game collection for the Wii and DS.

Video Game Christmas Ornaments!

GALAGALast year around the holidays I reviewed Hallmark’s Pac-Man Christmas ornament. They made it to look like an original upright arcade cabinet, and it had lights and sounds from the game! This year I found even more video game themed Christmas ornaments, so I thought I’d share what I’ve found with you all, too!

Guest Review: Chaotic: Shadow Warriors (PS3)

CHAOTIC_BOXChaotic: Shadow Warriors is a popular trading card game and TV cartoon show, and now it’s a video game for all the major consoles (PS3 version reviewed here). For this review, though, I enlisted the help of kid Chaotic expert James Young to write the majority of the review. Read on for his take on the game:

B.O.S.S. Controller (Wii)

BOSS1The Wii certainly has its share of useless ‘shells’ for the Wii remote: tennis rackets and golf clubs for Wii Sports, and “Cooking Mother” (oh puh-lease) spatula and frying pan attachments for Cooking Mama. Now, finally, there’s a shell that’s actually fairly useful with the B.O.S.S Controller from Performance Designed Products (PDP).
