Those popular big-eyed, bobble-headed miniature toy pets for girls, Littlest Pet Shop, are back in a big way in a game on the Nintendo DS. In the third installment, Biggest Stars, help your favorite pets practice and try out for the Biggest Stars teams, as well as collect ingredients to make cool fashions and yummy treats for your Littlest Pet Shop critters. The DS game comes in three different flavors: Blue Team, Pink Team, and Purple Team (Blue reviewed here). Each version has its own special pets to play with. And for a limited time, if you get the game at Toys R Us, it comes with two special real life toys exclusive to the DS.

Review: Gamma World (paper RPG)

After nearly 10 years, the post apocalyptic adventures of Gamma World have returned. This time around multiple dimensions of the Earth were squashed together in a great cataclysm when something in Europe’s Large Hadron Collider goes “bloop”. In an instant multiple Earths with different timelines collide with our own creating chaos and global devastation. Gamma World is a somewhat goofy role playing game set in this alternate future. Players take on the role of creatures like giant cockroaches, mind-bending teddy bears, or even a swarm of angry intelligent cats. Based off the popular, new 4th edition of the Dungeons and Dragons role playing game, Gamma World offers gamers a slightly simpler and zanier gaming experience in a single box set.

Reader Review: Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360, PS3)

Just in time for Halloween comes the sequel to Dead Rising. This time, instead of taking over a shopping mall, the undead have overrun the fictional Fortune City, a Vegas lookalike. Just as in the first game, you can pick up nearly anything and use it as a weapon against the droves of zombies. And now you can play online and play games on a pretend zombie reality TV show! Definitely more campy than scary. My brother Jeff is such a Dead Rising fan, I thought I’d have him take a stab at reviewing it. So here’s high school senior Jeff Orth’s review of Dead Rising 2! The Characters of Samurai Shodown Sen

I just got Samurai Shodown Sen real cheap, around ten bucks. It’s a 3-D fighting game with characters from the popular Samurai Shodown 2-D brawlers from SNK. I don’t think it’s the first time they’ve made a 3-D Samurai Shodown game, wasn’t Samurai Shodown 64 also 3-D? Anyway, here’s a brief review of the new game and a rundown on all the characters.

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most popular and iconic video game characters. And yet, the blue blur has had a bit of a bumpy ride in the past few years with his 3-D endeavors. So now he’s gone back to basics with a new 2-D classic-styled adventure you can download on Xbox LIVE, WiiWare, and PSN (Xbox version reviewed here). So does Sonic 4 live up to its series’ original greatness? Most definitely yes! If only for a short while…
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

It’s be over 50 years since Guitar Hero first burst onto… what? Oh. It’s been 5 years?!? Yes. It’s only been five years but Guitar Hero is on it’s 50th editio–what? Oh there’s been how many? Oh… anyway. There’s also Rock Band as well, their 3rd one is coming soon and their Beatles game makes them have …um and… for Guitar Hero this is the… who cares? It’s more great strumming and party fun.
Sid Meier’s Pirates for Wii

Return with us to those glorious days of yesteryear, when men were men and the seas were plied by only the scurviest of watery knaves. In the service of a great power Pirate Kings and Buccaneers sailed, wooed Governor’s daughters, and played far into the night. I’m talking, of course, about the late 80’s. Back then, anyone who had a PC, Amiga, or Sega Genesis knew the love that was Sid Meier’s Pirates. A game that put you in charge of a 30 gun War Galleon and dared you to follow your own path in a digitally recreated Spanish Main.
Game Review: Comic Jumper: The Adventures of Captain Smiley (Xbox LIVE)

Meet Captain Smiley. He’s a comic book super hero who’s had a bit of bad luck lately. You see, his comic book sucked so hard that it was quickly cancelled. Even worse, Smiley has a living, breathing, talking, mean-spirited star on his chest who complains and insults Smiley every step of the way. And Star has a man-crush on Smiley’s arch-rival, the narcissistic “Brad.” So what’s a super hero to do? Well, for Captain Smiley and Star, they must jump into other comic books to guest star in them to make enough money to re-launch their own series. It’s up to you to help them in this run and gun 2-D action platformer on Xbox LIVE.
Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising 2 is rated M for … zombies. Parents, if you let your kids watch zombie movies, there’s nothing here that will surprise them. Some parents may not like the focus on gore for gore’s sake and killing for killing’s sake (but these are zombies). The game does have a fascination with zombie brutality and this game will challenge your kid to kill in more and more interesting way by combining items (propane tank + nails = IED). That creativity is a double edged blade if there ever was one.
