Indiana Cary and the Tower of Dru-Blog-A
OK, nobody’s going to get the joke in the title, but that’s OK, it’s not a very funny joke anyway. Turns out that I have enough materal about Indiana Jones to write a blog about. Just like Star Wars and Transformers, Indiana Jones was a pretty big part of my childhood. In fact, there’s some aspects about Indiana Jones movies that I like even BETTER than Star Wars. So grab your fedora and come along on an adventure!

Got some really interesting questions this week. First, a simple one: Why do games based on movies suck? Then we wade into the deeper waters of “World of Warcraft Addiction” – and then you know what happens? Yep, another question from a smart teen about the Grand Theft Auto IV everybody is still (rightfully) talking about. All this and more at Ask GamerDad.

Eidos Says: Buy our games … buy alllll of them!
New games coming to Steam are no big deal – nor is the ability to grab favorites for a reasonable price and not have to worry about play disks and whatnot. I wouldn’t report on any of that … but I just have to tell you what is now cooking on Steam!
Krull – Memory Lane
Ah, Krull, does anyone even remember Krull? If you do, you can imagine how useful it’ll be. We can show our grandkids Lord of the Rings and then show them Krull (and Beastmaster, and even Willow) and they can pity us. We’d then stamp our feet and sputter “But we LIKED it!” – it was all we had.

There have been controversial video games ever since video games first were imagined. But a reader asks me if games from the long ago past (NES, Atari 2600) can possibly be rated M for Mature. And what about M-rated games from a decade, or more, ago? This and much more in this week’s Ask GamerDad.
Cary’s Favorite Sports Video Games
With the summer months coming up, people are going outside and playing sports and being a little more fitness minded. Of course, if you’re down in the South like I am, you spend the hottest parts of the day INSIDE playing video games or else you’ll melt! So in honor of summer sports and outdoor fun, here’s a list of my favorite sports video games.

Fallout 3: Preorder game, get … stuff
The associate at GameStop asked “Would you like to preorder Fallout 3 for the PS3 or XBOX360”? After deciding that I would not immediately kill the kid for forgetting that this is a PC franchise we’re talking about here, I said “PC version, standard not collector’s edition”. He said ‘oh’, rather surprised, but proceeded to take my money and give me the item that was the reason I pre-ordered the game about four months in advance: a DVD case containing a large poster and what looked like a 45RPM I might have bought thirty years or so ago.
Idol Thoughts: And the winner is … David
Yeah, yeah … I know that is lame and has been done a million times since it was revealed that the finale would be ‘all David’. But after watching the performance segment of the finale, it seemed blatantly obvious to me that the judges and producers worked very hard to make sure that a certain outcome would occur, ensuring that it would be a ‘win’ for *both* Davids … and for many others.
