  1. I have already played Disgaea DS for my quarterly ‘Whole Game In My Hand’ feature at RPGWatch, and let me just say – it is Disgaea … on the DS.

It is a port of the PSP version which in turn was based on an expanded and enhanced version of the PS2 release. The core game is a solid strategy-RPG, and the DS release is true to that game. That said, the only reason to get this is if you haven’t already played it on the PS2 or particularly on the PSP. The DS adds little to the game, making it something that I recommend solidly for DS-locked folks.

  2. Why are some on the list highlighted? Because I can’t handle formatting from one program to another. Ugh. Here are the ones I’m looking forward to and a brief note as to why:

    Xbox 360 or PS3
    – Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway – Missed the first one, love 3D shooters, might get Wii instead.
    – Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2009 – They have to get it right sometime and hunting games can be fun – especially on a Wii. See? I do have some things in common with Sarah Palin.
    – LEGO Batman – Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!
    – Buzz Quiz TV with 4 Wireless Buzzers – Have this already, great fun!

    Wii
    – de Blob
    – Wario Land: Shake It
    – Sim City Creator
    – LEGO Batman
    – Samba De Amigo
    – Brothers in Arms: Double Time
    – Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2009
    – Wii Samba Maracas

    Nintendo DS
    – Kirby: Super Star Ultra
    – Sim City Creator
    – Nancy Drew: Hidden Staircase
    – Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure
    – Pipe Mania
    – Shaun the Sheep

    PSP
    – PSP God of War Kratos Kit
    – LEGO Batman
    – Pipe Mania

    PC
    – Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Colonization
    – Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway
    – LEGO Batman

    PS2
    – LEGO Batman
    – SingStar Pop Vol 2

  3. Gave up on the “brief note” a little early there didn’t I? I’ll comment on the Wii picks, the rest you’ll have to imagine for yourselves.

    Wii

    – de Blob – Looks interesting, I am generally pro-Blob in my daily life.
    – Wario Land: Shake It – I wish this was a new WarioWare but I’ll take Nintendo’s exploration of tradition platforming any day. New SMB, Kirby, DK: Jungle Beat, SMGalaxy – were all just so far ahead of their time.
    – Sim City Creator – On principle, I’m skeptical overall.
    – LEGO Batman – Probably will play this one the most. The Wii is upstairs.
    – Samba De Amigo – Shake the remote and nunchuck like maraccas in this awesome music game. Seriously, I played it with the maracca controllers back in 2000 on the Dreamcast. This’ll be awesome!
    – Brothers in Arms: Double Time – I’ve vowed to play every shooter on the Wii, when they work, they are great! Most of the time they don’t work well.
    – Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2009
    – Wii Samba Maracas

  4. I am actually ‘iffy’ on LEGO Batman after playing LEGO Indiana Jones. Hopefully I can get some of the excitement back …

Civ IV Colonization – missed out on the original, definitely looking forward to this. Sadly I’m sure this means further subdividing my PC gaming time as the Mac version won’t be coming any time soon. (heck, Beyond the Sword isn’t even out for the Mac yet!)

  5. Here’s what I’m looking forward to this week. There’s a lot!

Top priorities I WILL get this week:
    Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS)
    Wario Land: Shake It (Wii)
    Samba de Amigo (Wii)

Here are some other games that I’m looking forward to this week, but they’re not top priorities. I may wait until the price goes down on these:

    de Blob (Wii)
    LEGO Batman (360)
    Shaun the Sheep (DS)

Two cool things on Wii Virtual Console this week: NES Super Dodge Ball and Mega Man 9 on WiiWare. I’m going to wait on the 360 version of Mega Man 9, though, because my 360 has more storage space, achievements, and it’s better than the Wii. 🙂 –Cary

  6. My husband just bought Lego Batman for the Wii for my barely 6 year old. It is rated E10+, do you think the rating is appropriate or that 6 year olds should be able to play it. Really interested in your thoughts as a parent before I start WWiii with my husband. Thanks!

  7. Everything is LEGO … there are the darker Batman themes, but sort of like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, it is all handled in a light and comical way. I still think that playing *WITH* your child would be the way to go.
