RunBean Galactic (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)
You’re a little astronaut jogging around a small planet while avoiding obstacles. Jump over spikes, roll under chompers, and try to survive as long as you can in this continuous runner. It’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
When you start, your little spaceman will start running clockwise around a tiny planet. When you get near a spike, press the jump button. And when you approach a yellow set of teeth, press the roll button to zip underneath then. Each time you do this, you’ll earn a point. You can use those points to buy different colored astronauts to play as, and it’s pretty easy to unlock them all. You can also bump into signposts which makes you change direction. Collect stars for bonus points and jump to collect keys to unlock things and bombs, but I don’t know what they do since this game so hard I couldn’t get that far. And that’s really my only problem with this game is that the high difficulty kept me from staying interested. Plus it’s just a bit too simplistic and repetitive. And it could just be me, but the controls seemed to have a small delay to them, which didn’t help matters.
Kid Factor:
RunBean Galactic is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence. If you hit an obstacle, you just disappear while a text description tells you how you died, and that’s it. Reading skill is helpful, but not necessary just to play. Younger gamers may get frustrated at the high difficulty and bored with the repetitive gameplay.
