Ask GamerDad 7/04/08

The July 4th edition of Ask GamerDad has soared, dazzled and landed. Click here to ooh and ahhh. This week I, somewhat controversially, tackle a variety of patriotic subjects. Ranging from Sid Meier’s Civil War to Lt. Col. (Ret) David Grossman, to wargaming during wartime. Fun stuff! Grab a hotdog, swat the mosquitoes and enjoy the picnic.

My favorite patriotic games are Patriotic Pinball on the PSOne and FantaVision (puzzler with fireworks) on PS2. –Cary

I definitely second the Nancy Drew recommendation.
But I think that trying to deter from all licensed games isn’t necessarily a good thing – there are things like the two High School Musical DS games, and Unfabulous for the GBA that are reasonable games that carry their licenses well.
Also, having ‘grown out’ of princesses and tween-to-teen things like SpongeBob at the barely-in-school age of 7 … that just makes me sad.

Nicely done, Bub, as always. You really have a knack for getting the facts but not sounding preachy when someone with an obvious agenda pops a loaded question.
