GamerDad on ABC WISN News 12 at 6pm Tonight!
I got an email today asking where in Wisconsin I lived and whether or not I cared to comment further on Manhunt 2’s release, video game violence, and related issues. I quickly called back and told them I was about 15 minutes away. One hour later a van pulled up and I was interviewed for tonight’s broadcast. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to post the video or link to the site, once it’s in place.
This isn’t the first time we’ve had this opportunity. We’ve been on the local news in San Francisco, Seattle, and Philadelphia. But this marks the first time my home town has acknowledged my existence and that’s somehow more gratifying.
Since Rockstar/Take Two hasn’t bothered to send us Manhunt 2 yet, they took some footage of my playing Resident Evil IV for Wii and Metroid Prime 3. Then they filmed me on my Macbook updating the website. While I didn’t play Manhunt for them, the conversation was about why kids and adults like scary violent games and the interview covered why I believe Rockstar has every right to release a vile game like Manhunt and why the AO rating should be viable. Of course I emphasized that parents should avoid games like this.
If I might humbly say so, Milwaukee parents could use GamerDad’s help and I’m happy to do it. So, come on other local affiliates! Come on Milwaukee Journal! GamerDad is here to help and happy to do it.

That’s very cool! Also pretty funny what journalists will use just to get that “appropriate” shot – when my wife and I were the centre spread for British tabloid The Sun, they took an ancient picture of me as a 12 year old using the computer and captioned it “Here’s Simon talking to his fiancee” or somesuch.

It was really fun to see you on the TV and they did a fairly good job representing your message. It is wonderful to see others start to recognize your expertise and use your intelligent, moderate and articulate message regarding the industry. I have been witness to this behind the scenes and though I have not been as verbal about this… IT’S ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME!!! OK,I’m done. You did great honey, keep it up.
